There are many advantages connected with the use of Biodiesel as opposed to Derv (Mineral oil) aside from its carbon neutrality which include-
Much lower toxicity. (Derv is known to carry carcinogens, kills plant life in the event of spillage)
Higher flashpoint. (Storage and usage much safer)
Less wear on piston rings and bores, thus extending the life of the engine.
Less expensive. (New legislation will put up the price of red Diesel and kerosene to non licensed users)
Smells a lot nicer!

As time goes on renewable oils will become easier to source as the walls that have been built around the Petrochemical industry start to come tumbling down, at present even locally grown virgin Rape Seed oil has a much lower carbon footprint, if in doubt Google the production of Mineral Diesel, but the fact that we use recycled oil makes it infinitely more so.
